Free Zero Waste Talk

Starting my Zero waste journey was one of the best decisions that I have made. I learned about Zero Waste a few years ago and I remember that something about it really hit home. I was inspired when I watched badass ladies like Bea Johnson and Lauren Singer living purposefully and doing game changing things, mainly living to the max whilst producing a jam jar’s worth of rubbish in a year. They talked about the benefits of simplifying and living their values. I was hooked. But I wasn’t sure if it was possible. It seemed like a really daunting task and a huge mountain to climb. But if I have learned anything through being a climber, it is that you don’t climb a mountain in one. You climb it step by step , move by move until you finally suddenly find yourself at the top.

As so I took the most important step, the first one! I have never looked back since. Zero Waste has since empowered me to make better decisions and I understood what Lauren was talking about when she said that we should live our values. I feel like what I do really makes a difference and that is something quite powerful! As with life itself, it is about the journey and there is so many opportunities to learn when it comes to Zero Waste.  I am still climbing so to speak and there are things which I am yet to tackle. I have a suspicion though that this will be something which will continuously present challenges as I move through life but I have enjoyed the journey so far as it allowed me to learn so much about myself and the world that I want to leave behind. Better than I found it, for sure!

I will be talking at The University of Sheffield about my journey towards Zero Waste so far, why I have decided to do it and what changes I have made. The talk is aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about Zero Waste in general. It is free but you need to make sure that you get your free ticket here. Small refreshments will be provided = Zero Waste of course.

See you there!
